Exploring Luxembourgish Folk Dance
"Where Do You Dance From?" - A new intergenerational project brings together participants of all ages — children, teens, adults, elders — to learn the basic steps of traditional Luxembourgish dance, and then co-create something completely new from what we find in our bodies together. It’s folklore lived and passed on, generation to generation, in the same room, at the same time.
Project leader, dancer and choreographer Sissy Mondloch tells us: I kept coming back to one question: how do we bring Luxembourgish folklore to the next generation, when so many see it as something outdated or don’t even know it exists? That question is what sparked the idea of merging traditional folklore with contemporary dance.
The team is composed of Sissy Mondloch (project lead, choreographer), Piera Jovic (dancer, choreographer), Eugène Engel (folk dance expert), and Authentica as music lead, performing and guiding the music in the workshops and shaping the sound world that carries the dancers through it, while being part of the creative process of reimagining the dances.
📅 The workshops start on the 03/10 from 16:00-17:30, all Dates: 03.10 / 17.10 / 31.10 / 14.11 / 28.11 / 05.12
